KL-1 blocks the interactions of positive transcription elongation factorb (P-TEFb) and the SEC-scaffolding protein AFF4 resulting in decreased Polymerase II (Pol II) activity and production of Pol II-transcribed genes. KL-2 was shown to cause downregulation of heat shock genes, and was non-toxic and active in an animal model of cancer. |
